Mid Century Modern Tiered Table Makeover
In my last table makeover post, I mentioned I was clearing the stockpile of side tables consuming valuable real estate in the workshop to make room for larger pieces. I bring you Table number three, a mid-century modern tiered table makeover.
This is what it looked like before I started...
The top was in pretty bad shape and so rather than repairing it with tons of wood filler, I decided it would be easier and faster to pull out the orbital sander and get er done!
The legs were in pretty good shape and required little to no repair. I painted them with a mixture of Pure White and Old White chalk paint. After adding clear wax I went into the grooves with some dark wax to make those details pop.
I did the same with the side trim but in this picture, it's hard to see the dark wax.
The tops were stained with Minwax Wood Finish in Dark Walnut, my favorite stain color. It only took a couple of coats to get that nice rich color. To protect the finish I applied three coats of Minwax Polycrylic Satin Finish. This isn't a Minwax sponsored post - just sharing the love.
I'm really pleased with how the top turned out and I'm loving it combined with the white. Okay I confess the pink tulips arefresh from our local florist fake as faux can be. Here in the Canadian Prairies, we are covered in snow and it's cold...too dang cold to get out of my yoga pants and put on some make-up to purchase real ones!
Here's a before and after visual...
One more table to go! Actually, it's finished and will be posted later this week.
