Quick And Easy Haddon Hall Side Table Makeover
We've been on the hunt for a rectangular side table with a drawer for our living room. Mr. Frugalista scored this fabulous Haddon Hall table for $10.00 at Goodwill.
It's the perfect size to flank our new leather love seat and the drawer has loads of room for all our remote controls. How many remote controls does one room need for crying out loud! One for the ceiling fan, one for the fireplace, the stereo, the DVD player, the television, and another for the PVR.
Ahem, back to the table. Here is a close up of what it looked like before...
Other than a few small scratches that needed filling all I had to do was give it a good scrub. I love it when a quick and easy makeover comes my way - doesn't happen very often.
I gave the table three thin coats of Old White chalk paint, sanding between coats. Then I lightly distressed around the edges and applied dark wax in the crevices.
The drawer front was stenciled using Silver Metallic paint to add some zing.
I removed the two original teardrop pulls because this drawer is going to get a lot of use and they were far too finicky for our big mitts. Instead, this pretty silver mercury glass knob that I had in my stash was added. It complements the other mercury glass elements in the room quite nicely.
Rarely do I leave a drawer naked and this table was no exception. It was painted with the same silver metallic paint used on the stencil but I left the furniture manufacturer's stamp untouched. I lined it with metallic polka dot scrapbook paper leftover from the Vintage Vanity makeover.
The entire table was given a coat of clear wax and buffed.
A little elbow grease and a few hours...
...and we have ourselves the perfect side table for our living room!
I'm sharing this project at these LINK PARTIES.

Tip for lining drawers
If you want a wrinkle and air bubble-free lined drawers use wallpaper paste. Brush it onto both the drawer and the back of the paper. It has playtime for moving the paper in place and it's easy to smooth out any air bubbles. I love this stuff! The entire table was given a coat of clear wax and buffed.
