Coral Flower Power Vintage Jewelry Box Makeover
Well here I go again, sharing another jewelry box makeover but I just can't help myself, they are so darn much fun to do! I must have had the Bluetooth speakers blasting 60's tunes in the shop because I went all flower power with this one.
It was a beautiful Spring day when I did this and I had the windows open with thoughts of Summer breezes and sand in my toes. So today on Frugal Decor Tuesday I bring you a Funky Coral Flower Power Vintage Jewelry Box Makeover!
A couple of summers ago I had the pleasure of meeting Rosanne & Jan, the owners of Country Chic Paint and getting a tour of their facility on Vancouver Island. Being surrounded by all those colors made my heart sing and I walked out with a handful of sample jars of custom paint colors. This beautiful coral color was one of them.
This is what the jewelry box looked like before. If you look closely on the top back left corner someone glued a penny on it. Curious minds would love to know the significance of that penny - if only this jewelry box could talk.
Now here is where all the funky retro flower power comes in...
Groovy huh! I removed the hardware and painted them in the color Turquoise Waters and protected the finish with White Wax. The flowers were stenciled using the same turquoise paint color along with Purple. To protect the finish I applied clear wax using a clean lint free rag.
You may recall from my Vintage Lavender Jewelry Box makeover that I replaced the glass on the door with Architectural Wire Cloth. I did it again except this time I used a wire cloth with a different weave called Detention (suitable name considering I was feeling all high school during this one).

Come back on Thursday where I'll be sharing another retro makeover with a 50's vibe.

Tip for Cleaning Jewelry Box Felt
The secret - baby wipes! You may recall from my Vintage Lavender Jewelry Box makeover that I replaced the glass on the door with Architectural Wire Cloth. I did it again except this time I used a wire cloth with a different weave called Detention (suitable name considering I was feeling all high school during this one).
The original glass is behind the wire mesh to give it some structure as well as provide the option of keeping it.
