Elegant Organza Christmas Ornaments From A Recycled Table Runner - Easy DIY Embroidery Hoop Craft. Recently I was rummaging through my fabric bin when I came across several damask organza table runners.

They have been there for decades and I had forgotten all about them. The red color reminded me of the holidays and so I used them to make handmade Christmas tree ornaments.

Recycled Organza Table Runner Ornaments

The pretty red organza fabric and the pearl trim add such elegance to these handmade ornaments. If you like pops of traditional holiday red then these are perfect.

If you are a regular IF reader then you know how red is my favorite color. I get downright giddy this time of year and again in February when I can decorate with my favorite color.

Did I mention that these ornaments are quick and easy to make too?

What You'll Need To Make The Ornaments

These are the supplies I used to make the elegant organza and pearl Christmas decorations. They cost next to nothing to make with the recycled fabric and dollar store supplies. The most expensive item is the small embroidery hoops but I purchased them online for a good price.

I wasn't happy with the look of the white holiday picks pictured above and used flocked holiday greens instead.

Supply List

Organza Table Runners
3-inch Embroidery Hoops
Pearl Stickers (dollar store)
Flocked Holiday Picks
Thin White Ribbon (dollar store)
Hot Glue Gun

Step 1 - Paint Embroidery Hoops

The first thing to do to make these is separate the inner and outer rings of the embroidery hoops and paint them a warm white.

Step 2 - Set Organza Inside Embroidery Hoops

Once the paint is dry lay the inner ring of the embroidery hoops underneath the table runner and map the best placement of the damask pattern for each ornament.

Once you've got the placement you like, slip the outer embroidery hoop over the inner hoop and tighten the clasp.

Cut the table runner around each embroidery hoop in squares like pictured below.

Pro-Tip

At this point, if you're using a light organza fabric, it's a good idea to remove the top embroidery hoop again and add a dab of hot glue here and there to prevent the organza from slipping out of the hoop.

Set the upper hoop back in place and tighten the clasp again. Next, trim the fabric around the outer hoop like pictured above.

Step 3 - Embellish Organza Ornaments With Pearls

Now we're going to add elegance to the organza tree ornaments with pearls.

The pearls come in self-adhesive strips but for extra adhesion, I placed a thin bead of hot glue along the outer edge of the wooden hoops and then laid the strand of pearls.

Step 4 - Ornament Ribbon Hangers

Next up is embellishing the hoop ornaments, starting with the ribbon hanger. Simply loop a thin white ribbon through the embroidery hoop clasp and tie a knot. Set the knot on the back of the clasp and add a dab of hot glue to hold it in place.

Step 5 - Embellish Ornaments With Flocked Greens

Embellish the top of the ornament with a sprig of flocked greens and secure with a dab of hot glue. I first tried a more symmetrical look with two sprigs of faux greens and preferred just one sprig instead.

Step 6 - Attach Tiny Bows To Ornaments

Next, add a small bow with a thinner white ribbon and secure with hot glue. An easy way to make a tiny bow is with a fork. Have you ever tried it? Here's an easy to follow fork bow tutorial you might find helpful.
