5 Budget-Friendly Ideas To Create An Amazing Outdoor Space
Have you been dreaming of a beautiful outdoor space but feel it is not within your budget? Creating an outdoor oasis can be expensive, but guess what? It doesn’t have to be.
I was determined to create an inviting outdoor space that Mr. Frugalista and I could enjoy during the summer months here in Canada. Today I'm sharing five budget-friendly outdoor space ideas that we created in hopes that you find inspiration for your home too.
How To Create An Outdoor Space That Is Budget-Friendly
We'll begin with an idea of how to expand your existing outdoor space.
Stone Pavers To Increase Your Outdoor Space
If you have a small, grassy area you do not use, consider using stone pavers. While these can be expensive, if you wait until the end of the season, most home improvement stores will have them at a discounted price.
That is exactly how we purchased ours. By using stone pavers, we were able to increase our outdoor living space by 200 square feet and it didn't break the bank.
Adirondack Chair Makeover For Outdoor Seating
Now, let's talk seating. I had tete-a-tete Adirondack chairs that were still in good shape. However, they were in desperate need of a refresh.
The only thing I did was give them a fresh coat of stain using a paint sprayer. Using the paint sprayer cut the work time in half. Now, my Adirondack chairs look brand new and complement our outdoor space.
Outdoor Chair Cushions On A Budget
I decided for comfort purposes, the Adirondack chairs needed cushions. However, purchasing brand new cushions can be expensive! I found several that I loved, but the prices started at $50 each, way too much for our tight budget.
I was determined to find a cheaper alternative and found these Walmart high back seat cushions for $20 each. However, they were a bit boring. Well, you know me, no boring around here! A stencil and white paint gave them some pizazz.
Beverage Cart For Our Outdoor Space
Now on to the most crucial part of our outdoor space! A beverage cart. A place for your wine and drink of choice to be easily accessible.
Mr. Frugalista found this beautiful tiered lattice shelf at an online auction. I knew it would make the perfect beverage cart for our outdoor space with a few modifications. We use our beverage cart often when entertaining outdoors and when we relax outside to enjoy a glass of wine.
Outdoor Solar Lights
Who doesn't love to sit out on the patio or deck in the evening with beautiful ambiance lighting? Instead of purchasing new solar lights, I had a pair of old candle sconces in my stash. They were pretty simple to convert, not to mention budget-friendly.
If you look closely, you can see that the solar yard lights are plastic, not glass. Yep, I found them at the dollar store, and they work just fine. You can't even tell they're not glass!
As you can see, an outdoor space does not have to be super expensive to be beautiful and functional.
